samson hair

You know how in the story in the Bible, Samson got his strength from his hair?

According to the biblical account, Samson was given supernatural strength by God in order to combat his enemies and perform heroic feats such as killing a lion, slaying an entire army with only the jawbone of a donkey, and destroying a pagan temple. Samson had two vulnerabilities—his attraction to untrustworthy women and his hair, without which he was powerless. These vulnerabilities ultimately proved fatal for him.

My husband, the idea guy behind our co-authored (he authors, I re-author) speculative fiction series, ICEFALL, has decided not to cut his hair until he’s finished with the second book. He’s currently two-thirds of the way through what will be another 120K word tome. Which is a good thing. As you can see.

Anyhow, I know we’re not supposed to fall in love with secondary characters, but it’s happened to me yet again. Our main protagonist, Reynal KrĂłlik, has two brothers: Navid and Darjeeling. The two are completely different from each other, and from Rey, and they have become one of my favorite things about the series.

Here’s a short excerpt from ICEFALL, the first time we see Navid.

(P.S. This post is mostly me testing some blog features, rather than imparting any fabulous information, so there’s that.)
